Just a couple of days after the attacks on September 11, 2001, then "illegitimate" president George W. Bush told Americans that we could do our part in fighting "Terrorism" by going out and spending our money. Eight years later he left the country in shambles. We are in the worst economic recession since the "Great Deprssion". We are fighting two wars that can't be won, Wall Street continues to fuck us all, unemployment has skyrocketed, and left in the wake is a literal and metaphorical landscape that has been changed forever.
