Last night, in Bayamón late at night Vico C a very famous rapper from Puerto Rico was closing his show when all of the sudden a huge explosion was felt. The only thing you could see in the sky was a big mushroom cloud.

Late night a driver was passing by the federal prison of Puerto Rico, down the #22 military road on his way home when all of the sudden the car windows exploded.

All the way down to Cidra and Naranjito a big earthquake rating a 2.4 shake was felt from Cataño due to an unnoticed explosion.

Today October 22, 2009 at 12:20 a.m. 14 out of 40 tanks of diesel gas tanks exploded in the petrochemical distributors of Gulf in Cataño, Puerto Rico.

I was on my way to Guaynabo to teach my students their routinely class of photography when I noticed that the sky was clear, but there was this huge very peculiar gray toned cloud in the midle of nothing. I saw that this cloud wasn't coming straight from the sky, it was coming from the ground. I immediately turned on the radio and the governor of Puerto Rico, Luis Fortuño was giving a press conference. At the moment I really didn't know what he was talking about until the Natural Resources spokes person began the story about this explosion. Fortunately nobody was hurt.

This will not only contribute to air contamination; it also contaminated bodies of water near the north area of Puerto Rico. Regular activities, like working or school were suspended due to respiratory problems that this can cause to the civilians in this district.

This case is currently under investigation by the FBI, and not sure of when the fire will go off because not even water can stop it.

Note: All of the pictures presented here, were taken with my pocket size camera while driving.
