The Kayak Diptych

28th July:
Llorenç (Rosanes) suggested I do a diptych of the two photos below. I think that's a great idea. I love diptychs. So I hope to acquire the technical know-how to do digital diptychs some time soon...
PS: Any tips are welcome!

22nd August:
Most people who use this site probably know how to do this already. The solution suddenly occurred to me this morning. I really don't know why I didn't think of it immediately: It is just as simple to make a digital diptych as it is to place two pieces of printed photo paper next to each other!
24th August:
Alexis (Gerard) suggested yesterday that I try a version without borders. So there it is: thick, thin, no borders. And then Llorenç wanted to see a version with white borders, which is probably the final one, and, I have to admit, my own favourite.
The method I used is the same in all of them (but there may be easier ways of doing it that I am not aware of).
Recipe:
Create a new file, 300dpi, at least as large as the images you are planning to paste into it (I rescaled the two photos first to keep the file size down). The new file can be black, white, any colour -- whichever way you want it. But make sure you create a colour file even if it is black or white if you want to paste colour images into it, otherwise the whole diptych comes out as monochrome. Copy and paste the images one by one into this new empty file (drop and drag them into the desired position). Crop as desired, reformat the image to 300dpi if necessary, and save as a new file. That's it: the principle is the same as when pasting two pieces of printed photo paper onto a cardboard background, and this is just as easy!
P.S. (19th October):
John (Linton) suggested that I should post this for everyone to access. Finding that the various multiple photo combinations posted by myself and others have not been removed in the past weeks, I have finally decided to take his advice.
Thank you all, for your inspiration and suggestions!

You have no idea how long it takes to me to get my first diptych...so I think this is really useful, well written and very good shots!
