What city do you live in? What neighborhood?
I live in Las Vegas NV, in the Northwest part of town to be precise. The locals call my area centennial hills, but on most maps it is just the northern part of Las Vegas.
What are some adjectives that describe your neighborhood?
The edge of suburbia. If you go more than a quarter mile north of my house you are in the desert, go any other direction and there are houses and sprawl as far as the eye can see.
How long have you lived there, and what brought you there?
I have been in Vegas for 5 years, originally I came for a change of pace and a better job market.
What is your favorite thing about this place? Your least favorite?
Best thing about Vegas would have to be the central location to several national parks; Death Valley, Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Kings canyon, and Yosemite and more are all within a days drive. As well as several ghost towns and forgotten Americana are close by. My least favorite would be the city aspect, most of Vegas is geared towards gambling and tourists, and it seems like they let the city spread out too much.
Do you feel that you belong there?
No, for whatever reason I still feel like a visitor, and if I left I don't see myself missing anything, or being missed.
What is the most common misconception about where you live?
Everyone thinks it is all gambling and legal prostitution here. But in reality prostitution is illegal in Vegas, you have to drive about 90 miles north for legal prostitution.
What is a special fact about your city that you have to live there to know?
There is a lot of natural beauty here, but you have to know where to look, and pull yourself away from the slot machines on the strip.
What aspect of your city do you secretly love?
There is not much I would say I secretly love, a lot of my favorite places in town have closed, or changed.

Great story. I love Vegas and not for the gambling.
