Glaciers cover up to 3% of Swiss soil. For 150 years, glaciers Swiss lost 9 cubic kilometers of ice, or 12% of their volume.
At this rate, these jewels of the Swiss Alps will have disappeared by almost a century, says glaciologist Martin Funk. The only solution, he said, is to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. "The phenomenon is not new, any time the glaciers melted and fell. But now is their disappearance total threat. "These words are required by alarming Sylvia Hamberger, co-author of the book
(Glaciers under glass), and emphasized the urgency of the problem.
