Fragile

Boy at the Beach

I lived upstairs above a laundromat. I worked in a small office. I'd sit there alone, the first to get to work, and listen to jazz. I'd wait for the phone to ring or someone to open the door. They couldnt afford a secretary so I had to take the messages off the answering machine myself. It was easy. There were hardly any messages except for this one here:

"For all its toughness and roughness.... for all the hardness life has to offer..... life is pretty fragile. People are fragile. No matter how well you package it or how much padding you use to strengthen it, life's fragile nature never changes."

I took the message and wrote it down.
