The Massacre of the Innocents Parade

I never really understood why Christians celebrate Innocent Day with jokes. This is a day which remember the massive killing of all children under two years, ordered by King Herod. He ordered the execution of all young male children in the village of Bethlehem, so as to avoid the loss of his throne to a newborn King of the Jews. The infants, known in the Church as the Holy Innocents, have been claimed as the first Christian martyrs.
The Catholic church celebrate the episode on December 28, but according with the bible, it is more accurate to celebrate it just after the visit of the kings to The Child, it is on January 6. All the photographs here exposed, belong to the celebration of the Innocents Day in the city of Cuenca, in Ecuador.
