Named for another RI hiking pioneer (so the book says) we are left to wonder if he was a pioneer who couldn't afford a horse, or a pioneer of hiking in RI. We shall probably never know, but we strongly suspect the latter ;-)
Another great little trail for an afternoon wander. And the pond is truly lovely. Breakheart Pond goes with Breakheart Trial, Breakheart Brook, and Breakheart Hill. Someone must have truly been heart-broken.
