My Precious Lens
Nikon 105mm VR Micro-Nikkor Lens by Nikon

I bought my precious Nikon 105mm lens at a low point in my life. My mother had just passed away, and I had been diagnosed with breast cancer. It seemed that was all I focused on for a long time. Then, I took up photography again after many years, and I began focusing with and on my camera. I could feel the changes in me. Photography saved my sanity, and this lens was a major factor. I began to realize that there was still beauty in the world, and that I was still alive!
I love my Nikon 105mm VR Micro-Nikkor lens. ("Micro" is Nikon's word for macro.) At the time I purchased this lens, it cost me about the same as my Nikon D-60 camera.
I wanted a lens that would take great close-ups of flowers. (Seems a lot of us shoot flowers when we begin photography) Little did I know that as time passed, I would use this lens about 90% of the time. I had no idea it was so versatile! As you can see from the photos in this article, I've been able to take flower close-ups as well as portraits with pretty good success.
Most of my photographs were hand held, with my husband constantly reminding me to use the tripod. I am a very impatient photographer, and unless it is a close-up that I am really having difficulty with, I will shoot without the tripod, and have had very good results with this Nikon 105mm lens, thanks to the VR feature.
In short, if I could take only one lens with me on a photo shoot, it would be the Nikon 105mm VR. It is quality, reliability and dependability in one sweet little package. I never leave home without it. It has become such a friend to me. I love how it captures what my eyes see, therefore allowing me to share those images with others. It really is "My Precious".
