As the world turns

My long time friendship with Mr. Herring is indeed a journey. I can never
chime in on many of the conversations he launches as most have to do with
the existence of his and those of you on this list. That you are all or have
at one time been photographers grants us some commonality. Speaking as one
outside the realms of employment you guys now seem to fit the definition as
employed men first and photographers second. Yet your respective visions
will not let you rests. Capital gain does not satisfy all. What does this
have to do with his MEANING OF LIFE question?
Immediately as I began to peruse the text he linked us to, I had to like a
butterfly shed the notions that cloud my mind (THAT gaining a job and
securing an income is the meaning of life) certainly! But it is not. Its
just that Im hungry for security. Besides this is limiting and simply
untrue. Yet our current climate is filled with efforts to have us accept
labor under capitalism as our meaning of life. We are encouraged to define
ourselves as men fist then laborers and finally breadwinners. I know that among us
there are Christians and perhaps a Muslims who would approach the world view
Differently.
Nonetheless I will concede this. In the society one has to first secure the
means to preserve life then one can afford the time to reflect on the
meaning of it. I hope to join you guys among the ranks of those who can
afford to ask the questions. But right now....the inability to get back in
the race, overwhelms me with issue of food shelter and basic needs. What I
like about Marlo is although employed he never stops asking the questions. He never rests.
Bravo, my man, We can never rest seemingingly until we find our resting
places. But until I lean more toward the writng of Albert Camus and
ABSURDISM, This is all folly and we have to play within it. I try to hold on
to the notion that there is a GOD who will answer these BIG questions in a
life hereafter. I got issues with him right now...LOL
