To access the waterfall of the CHAUDRON (LA REUNION ISLAND), we must take a path along the wall in perpetuity. Some passages are dizzying, but all areas at risk are protected by barriers that are in a state sometimes questionable ... but good at the same time this place is all forgotten about any tourist guide.
The trail is flat, without major difficulties. However, during the passage of the tunnel a flashlight can be very useful. After a few hundred meters around the bridge on which prohibited him is very dangerous down the path more accessible.
The trail is lined with many varieties of ferns (legged lizards ,...) initially, then as one approaches the cascade of small shrubs take the ascending (Jambrosades, guava ...). The path is quite shady, but it is still necessary to provide enough to protect from sunlight.
Moments after the start, a splendid view of Saint Denis DE LA REUNION in the light itself. The depth of the ravine of the CHAUDRON and the proximity to the opposite wall are striking. The show is impressive. After a good hour's walk, you reach the catchment basin, partly fueling the city of Saint Denis.
The move to the side wall is a little tricky. It comes onto the waterfall of the CHAUDRON. The water is blue opal playing sunlight offers a very special atmosphere. Erosion has created a unique site at the Meeting. During the cyclonic rains of February, declining flows from several hundred meters into the CHAUDRON.
The place, lonely and desolate book an atmosphere of calm and serenity. Swimming is possible in the basin. Please note, however, it can be dangerous.
