10 Tips to get great shots with models

1) Keep contact with your model at least every other day via email or text prior to your shoot so she knows you are serious and excited to work with her.
2) Make sure she knows exactly what you have in mind and who will be at the shoot as well (make-up artist, hair stylist, etc.) The more people you have participating in the shot, the better chance you have of getting an amazing image that everyone can be proud of. The more points of view, the better!
3)Allow her to bring an escort, because, well, why not? If it was your daughter, would you want her going to some strangers house alone? No. It just makes sense that a model will feel more comfortable if her friend is there with her. Maybe the next time you work together she won't even bring one. Who knows. But what's the big deal?
4) Give her your phone number so she can call you if she gets lost.
5) Introduce yourself on the day of the shoot with a big smile and a warm hand shake or hug. Make sure the studio is warm and well-lit also.
6) Compliment her the entire time (remember, beauty shines from within with confidence!)
7) Do not ask her to do anything she is not comfortable with. Look through her portfolio to get an idea of her previous comfort level. Do not push her to do something you want that she does not want. Either find a different model or accommodate her. It's that simple.
8) Send her the images promptly and let her know how happy you are with working with her. Everyone deserves a little more love and thanks in this industry.
9) Recommend her to other photographers and gigs that could hopefully get her paid.
10) Now that she loves you and knows how great you are, work with her again and again and again! Keep getting those amazing shots and maybe her comfort level will grow with her trust in you.

I think this is a very nicely written article with a lot of useful pointers.I do not find it sexist at all.It also has some great images to illustrate some of the work that can be achieved when you have a good rapport with your model!!! Voted !!!
