Use Your iPod Touch as a Light Source

Everybody who owns an iPod Touch knows it's a nifty little Mp3 player and can come in handy as a way to carry around your digital photos in your pocket.
The Touch still holds a lot of potential due to the countless applications that can be downloaded to the device. Most of the applications can be downloaded for very little money or none at all. The iTunes store has an entire photography section in the Apps store, however, I have yet to actually explore that section fully to see how well they work.
The two applications that I found to be very handy are the myLite Flashlight and Spawn Lite. Both applications can be downloaded for free all you have to do is search for them. One is categorized as a tool while the other is considered for pure entertainment value, but they can be used for a unique light source in your photographs.
The myLite Flashlight is exactly what it sounds like - a flashlight. It turns your Touch into a brighter light source than the main screen. The light can be changed to several different colors just by dragging your finger across the color bar, as well as adjusting the intensity of the light in the same way. The application also comes with several effects which include strobe and police car, just to name a few. It works well as a steady light if need be, but it can also serve a more surreal purpose.
The Spawn Lite application displays firework-like effects across the screen of the iPod and can be manipulated by dragging a finger across the screen or double tapping the screen to create an explosion of color. I found this one to work best with slasher art style photographs.
If anyone has any other useful applications that you think might aide your fellow photographer just post a comment or let me know and I'll add a reader recommended list.
