Tranquility

Recently a butterfly garden opened in our rural area. It is a wonderful place of serenity and restoration, where one can enter a world where nature is ruler. An island of retreat fills the senses with sights, fragrances, and sounds undisturbed by daily troubles.
Upon entering, the greeters are the joyous colors of the flowers and the fluttering butterflies, accompanied by the musical sound of a lazy waterfall at the far end of the pavilion. The area is relatively small at 2500 square feet, but every inch is dedicated to the plants and pond. There are many different species of butterflies fluttering around the flowers. Some may land on visitors at times. The only sound is the waterfall, and an occasional murmurred comment by a guest remarking on a discovered treasure. The faint scents of some of the flowers combine to make a very light and pleasant perfume. A lovely pond meanders through the length of the pavilion. It contains some waterlilies and lily pads on which land damselflies. Along the outside perimeter of the garden baby quail hide shyly, as they are discovered by visitors.
This is a wonderfully unhurried sensory experience that is relaxing and restoring. It is a place of escape and retreat for the soul as well as the mind.
