365 Days

A photo diary seemed like an interesting idea, but do I really want take a photo of myself every day in 2009? I figured it was worth a try and decided if it was going to be a "fully representative of your life" photo shoot I'd need to put some thought into what I took a photo of.

On day 26 I was running out of ideas when I thought I'd try taking a photo of me similar to the famous one of the Beatles on their "With the Beatles" album cover. So many seem to like the idea that I decided to take some more "album shots."

On day 60 I was fooling around in Canon PhotoStudio when I realized I could layer my photo on top of the one I'd taken of "The Doors" album. This opened up a new dimension to me. JPG wasn't always happy with these manipulated shots and several have been removed along with a few of my Photo Booth shots taken with my iMac iSight camera.

I've decided to keep my ten most recent shots in this photo essay (along with the one I've entered into the 365 Days theme). My entire 365 Days (or as many as I end up shooting) can be found on my flickr site:

I know I said at the very beginning of the 365 challenge that it was a bit "excessive." But I, too, have taken to shooting a picture of myself each day (or asking my partner to shoot me to avoid a daily tripod adjustment). I haven't decided yet if I'm going to display them anywhere; they're not that good. I think I'll end up making a "Richard 365" Blurb book come next January. Each day/evening I'm challenged to find a new way to document my daily life. I find I end up on the couch more than I thought! It will be interesting to see what I learn about myself, what each of us learns about ourselves, over the next 351 days. Good luck!

I'm with Mario on this John.It really deserves wall space in a gallery.I suspect JPG will at best print the "tame" ones,if any,but this story certainly deserves to be printed.Rock on Dude!!!Gets my vote!!!

Your self portraits tell a story of who you are and it's been great so far to get to know John Linton a little better and your choice of the Albums just rock and I hope this essay will get published and they will let you put your photo's they took down back up!
