Personal Post - Grit, Grain and Graphics
By Dale Scherfling

I always carried two cameras as a news photographer - one for the editors and one for me. I shot straight realism for the newspapers but mostly pushed, tweaked, bent or distorted things for myself - usually having to do with grit, grain and graphics. I'm especially fond of color saturation and contrast. Now that I'm retired, I'm doing a lot more personal photography than I did before. I guess that's why I consider myself to be an impressionistic realist in my shooting.
