Jesus Christ may have died due to asphyxia, but stunned penitent Mark Escuyos, a stand-in/swap actor from the theater-on-the-street-production of Al Evangelio's "Buhing Kalbaryo," is lucky to be surrounded by modern-day technology, doctors/nurses and medical aid rushing to his side after his ordeal last Good Friday in Brgy. Guadalupe, Cebu City, Philippines.

After Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ, I've never seen as riveting and gripping as the one presented here in "Buhing Kalbaryo" * (a live re-enactment during the last few hours of Jesus Christ) in Cebu City, Philippines by the acclaimed, international award winning Filipino playwright and director Al Evangelio last March 21, 2008 -- a Good Friday.

A real crucifixion took place! (I squirmed when I saw the nails pierced into the hands of the penitent. Link to the scene is found here: The Ransom

http://jpgmag.com/photos/972371. I had searing goosebumps. I had no choice but to document the whole event.)

Note: There was no anesthesia introduced prior to the penitent's crucifixion.

Yeah, it rocks. Did he really intend to hurt himself?
