My First Com-Doc Card
Combat Documentary Photographers had cards affording them priority transportation and access.
The U-10 was used for leaflet dropping, loud speaker information and Photo Reconnaissance. It was one of many aircraft in which I flew.
The U-10 was also used to pick up messages from downed Airmen. I shot the actual event with the hook in the parachute line. I used a Pentax Spotmatic with 300mm f/5.6 Takumar lens. The film was Tri-X Pan 400 processed in Acufine developer and pushed to ASA 1200. The shutter was 1/1000th of a second and the aperature was set at f/8, using the super accurate built in averaging meter (stop down).

Absolutely fascinating, Steve! Love the picture, and the story, esp. how the shot was made!
