I only found two of the many, many press photographers at the Newport Jazz Festival shooting with film cameras. (I couldn't find one single fan using film.)
Canon EOS 350 D camera with a Sigma AF 18-200mm DC OS Zoom lens

the camera envy series? His expression is how I look all the time when I look at my very short-lensed cheapo.

I sometimes miss the acidic smell of my darkroom, but then again I wouldn't want to go back to living in caves either. Shoot digital, it's better for the environment. :-)

Wow..is it the same for guys with big lenses trying to compensate? Just curious.. I LOVE the smell of a darkroom .. the chemicals.. but I couldn't go back there.. my eye site is such that I never take a clear shot the first time and I'd be spending a ton on developing blurs.. I like this shot a lot.. nicely done John.

Wish I could see what kind of camera he has! I think he looks at it like a lover on his beloved. I can relate - I still primarily shoot with an Olympus OM4 (manual focus!) and would not trade it for all the digital cameras in the world!
-
David Eastham gave props (16 Sep 2008):
Nice shot. One day I will pull one of my many film cameras.

I just busted out my Canon AE-1 the other day for the fun of it. I loaded up a roll of Fuji 800 Black and White for a blast from the past. This shot makes me want to go buy a long piece of glass for it. I usually shoot with my Canon 20D though.

Being a digital shooter these days, I do understand why. Digital "film" is so cheap and I don't have to wait for anyone else to screw it up for me . . .I can do it all by myself! "Yeah!" R

Some of my old friends and relatives in my age group or older still use film yet and they don't want to go digital...I would never care to go back to using film again, but sometimes I feel that digital is a little bit more light sensitive than film and the program mode isn't always too reliable in all situations....But at least improvements can either be made in photoshop and/ or in changing the exposures by switching to the manual mode....Great one for the theme! Voting!
