John, I'm pretty sure those are bald cypress trees. They were everywhere in the Dead Lakes area on the Florida Panhandle. A nice place. I wish I lived there...

Thank you. You're very kind. Ever seen the Cypress Swamp in Calvert County, MD near Prince Frederick? It's the northernmost Cypress Swamp in the US, I believe, but nothing like this area we found in Northwest Florida. -
