This collective visual biography by H.S.T (with forward by Johnny Depp) is a hidden gem among my photo books. Not only was H.S.T an incredible journalist and unforgettable character, but he was also a truly amazing amateur photographer.
Assembled in a scrap book type style, it was a fairly quick read and incredibly visually stimulating. From his encounter with the hitchhiker who fashioned a suitcase out of a gas can (to encourage passerbys to pick him up assuming he was only needing to get to the next service station) to the bits on The Curse of Lono...I love every single square inch of this book and truly believe it is a must for every H.S.T fan, and an inspiration to aspiring photographers.
The title says it all, this is Hunter Thompson exposing himself through his photography. There was so much more to this man than his larger than life persona. Get the book, you won't regret it.
