The Valle de los Caídos or the Valley of the Fallen. It is a rather controversial monument built by Franco to serve as a memorial for those who died during the Spanish Civil War. To this day, people feel the monument should be removed as though it is supposed to commemorate everyone who died, only Franco and his right hand man José Antonio Primo de Rivera have graves with names on it and many feel that the monument is much more of a commemoration of Fascism than anything else. Doesn't help that the entire monument was built by 20,000 forced labor Republican prisoners.
Easily one of the most surreal places I've ever visited.
