One Hundred Young Americans
There is so much for me to say about "One Hundred Young Americans" by Michael Franzini. I came across this book with browsing through the photography section at Borders and was immediately drawn to it. As the title states, the book showcases 100 young Americans - all with different stories, from different backgrounds. The stories are accompanied by photos that represent a part of the person's personality or something about their life.
Franzini traveled the country finding, interviewing, and photographing them, and the product of all of that hard work is an amazing, eye opening look into the lives of America's young people. Not matter who you are, what your background is, or where you are from, you will find at least one person you can relate to in this book. I read it in one sitting and discovered many similarities between myself and the subjects, no matter how opposite I would've guessed we were.
Along with the unique, interesting stories of these individuals you will find a collection of amazing portraits in this "One Hundred Young Americans". The portraits are not only beautiful, but give you a better idea of who you're reading about by sharing with you a part of their personality or their life. The photos do a great job of summing the person up, and giving you insight into who they truly are.
Michael Franzini's "One Hundred Young Americans" is a beautiful collection of portraits and stories. I would highly recommend this book to ANYONE - whether you're a fellow young american, a photography enthusiast, or just a person looking for an interesting read.
