This is a statue near the ruins of St. Nikolai's Church located in Hamburg, Germany. The church was originally built in 1335; however, the church has had many incarnations because it has repeatedly been destroyed. Its final destruction was during the bombing raids of World War II. Only a few walls are left as well as the tower built in 1644 and some pieces of artwork, such as the statue included in the picture. It would appear to take great faith in a god to constantly rebuild a church fire after fire. Therefore, the statue begs the question: Was faith lost after WWII?
