The city that I live in has number of Canals

and therefore lots of bridges and floodgates.

One of those flood gates is very special and rare.

It’s a so called three way floodgate, it is connected with three different canals

instead of two. On one side you see an entrance/exit gate,

and on the other two entrance/exit gates.

In Holland we have a lot of canals, but because most of the land is below the sea level, and because of the tides, the are a number of floodgates. But this one is special, even in Holland.

The is only one other Three-way floodgate, and that one still works,

The one in my town is out of order, because They build a bigger canal, for bigger ships, and a much bigger floodgate to.

The Floodgate was build in the 15th century.
