Shamus
The longest standing "regular" from a restaurant ,here in Queens, that I worked at. I was greeted,10AM,EVERY morning by that sweet irish brouge. Beer in hand, he'd give the neighborhood news and really awesome stories of his life growing up in Ireland. When a long story was coming, his glasses would be pulled to the tip of his nose and it was, as if, his devilish blue eyes would beckon for your full attention! I would be absolutely mesmerized by him and would never tire of listening to him! He was the most genuine, kind & loving human being,I've ever met ! I think he's been there, longer than any one person who has passed through those doors! At some point, in the late afternoon, he make his way to the front office, shoot you a look, with those tired blue eyes, we'd call him a cab and home he went ! See you in the morning, Shamus & his reply was ALWAYS , if the good Lord let's me !!!! My mother always told me not to talk to strangers, I'm sure glad,at least in this case, I didn't listen !

Great story. We have friends we meet for dinner every Friday night, and they are in their 70's. The stories they can tell.
