Reminds me of those late 19th/early 20th century pics that were referred to as blue. Not that there was much of a blue tint to them.

I am reminded of the tintypes made in the 1860s. That, and the infamous "French Postcards" from a slightly later era in photography. I can easily imagine this being tacked up on Henry Miller's Paris apartment wall as he typed away on "Tropic of Cancer."
