I am pressed for time and I must know what species this fella' is, and if it is a threat to three year olds. Please help!!

    looks to be a wolf spider, nasty bite, non-poisonous. don't take my word for it.

    Wow, I didn't think this would really work! Let's see, so far we've found and (reluctantly) killed three of these guys, and I've just discovered recently that we have a major Black Widow problem too, in addition to an infestation of these strange red spiders that look kind of like giant ants, but that's all beside the point.
    Dom: They have all been roughly the same size, about twice the size of a quarter (U.S.) with legs outreached. This is in the (nearly) inland area of San Diego, California (U.S.)
    Rosalie: Good point, but I only know of one way to determine allergic-ness and I don't want to risk it with a toddler.
    Kevin: That's good to know, but like you said, I had besty not really solely on your word.
    Also, if it helps, they have been found:
    -Outside of the main house's back door.
    -On an upper bunk in the garage (studio).
    -On the outside of the garage door.
    Oh, and the arse end of this thing is a deep brown/reddish color.

    For any insect or spider you'd like to identify, go to the forums here: http://photography-on-the.net/ I guarantee they can tell you what it is.
