This and many other cacti live in my yard. I took this photo and then thought maybe I should pull the weeds that are around it. Hard lesson learned...I didn't even know I touched the dang thing but when I stood up - I realized I had 20 to 30 prickely fine hairs inbedded into my arm and hand. They started stinging. I began pulling them out of my skin and it wasn't easy. I now have red-welted irritated skin. It's getting better, but next time you can bet the weeds are staying right where they are.
