Hallowe'en Pennant
I just posted this, deleted it because it looked washed out, adjusted and resubmitted it. It's still not dark enough - colors aren't true.
This is a dragonfly of dry fields with wet seeps and tall grasses.
They perch together and don't seem to me to be as territorial as the ones that cruise over water.
They cling to their perches at the tip ends, but if the wind is blowing, as here, they spread their wings out separately and if the wind changes, they are blown to face it, still clinging to the perch.
The venation on the wings is a sight to behold, and every time I see them in the sun, they take my breath away. I must have a thousand photos of them.
I'll post a dorsal image from today.
