My little sister splashes through the nearly black water of South Twin Lake near Millinocket, ME. The water is darkened by tannic acid released from fallen pine needles. I made this image by wrapping my beloved D70 and 50mm lens in a gallon-sized freezer bag. I couldn't see through the viewfinder at all so I used the LCD preview and just kept shooting. I adjusted the exposure manually before submerging the camera. The image was lightly edited using Aperture 2.0 before converting from RAW to JPG, but much of the "vintage" looks comes straight out of the camera.
