I din't think I have ever seen a more beautiful scene. It was early morning on the Blue Ridge Parkway and I had to pull over at the many visitor lookouts. The valley scene was nice, but when I turned around this spetacular image hit me. It was truly a "Blue Ridge" experience. It is why they call them "THe Blue Ridge Mountains".
I knew it would last only a short time. I had my Leica R8 loaded with Fujichrome Velvia 50 film. My Vario Elmar 35-70mm f/4 lens was set at 45mm. I did not use a filter. A UV Haze filter may have altered the magnificent colors, so I took it off and used only the lens shade. The metering was Leitz matrix.
