Smoke Detail
This is a detail of "Smoke", a sculpture from 1967 by Tony Smith, which is on exhibit in its finished form for the first time (LACMA).
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art recently opened a new building of Modern Art and completely re-did its old buildings as part of a major, multi-year transformation.
This sculpture is part of that transformation, on display in the older Ahmanson Building, in the middle of the LACMA complex.
The sculpture is two stories tall, and approximately 45 feet long x 35 feet wide. This detail is shot from ground level, looking straight up at the glass roof of the Ahmanson Building, 5 stories above.
