Forrest "Pussy" Johnson is a former Marine who fought across the Pacific in the 3rd Marine Division. His good "friend," Oscar Stone, put this up on his sign in the middle of Berwick, Maine on July 27, 2006. Pus was definitely surprised to see it when he went downtown that morning for the paper. The sign gave the town something to talk about for weeks.
Forrest's unique nickname got my son sent to the principal's office. His Spanish teacher asked the class if they knew anyone with an unusual nickname and my son immediately said "Pussy!" To this day I don't think the teacher believes that's his actual nickname.
PS I like to tell people that my mother-in-law, Helen, can sink a thousand ships with one disapproving look. Forrest and Helen celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary not long ago.
