The Young Canadians have been volunteering and putting on this grand show every year since 1968. This year is their 40TH Anniversary! My dear friends' daughter is in the show so I went to shoot it for her as a gift. I have opened a gallery on my website if you want to see the shots - they are AMAZING! (I dare say - but really, how can you miss with all the pagentry and colour and beautiful children?!!) This show takes place in the Grandstand during Calgary Stampede. I do not like (boycott) the rodeo stuff but the rest is wonderful and this City puts its heart and soul into it every year (for 100+ years now). If you've never been, just imagine 10 action-packed days, party almost 24/7. Breakfast parties start at 7:00am with streets filled with grills full of free breakfasts, bands playing, people dancing. The aviation acrobat Snowbirds are flying over my house in formation as I type this - they too are kicking off the Party today - the parade was this morning for thousands and thousands in attendance. They boast it is the Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth and, know what? They Ain't Kiddin' !!
Seriously, single gents, the city is full of thousands of beautiful women. Ladies? Same goes, many wonderful cowboys. Everyone is so friendly. It's a great holiday. Ooodles of Americans come up to party! Yippee Yahooo!

I really like the way the shadows keep the viewer in the image. The position of the three cowgirls, how they are illuminated and especially how the stage lights keep the focus on the last lass, very well done!
