"Freedom is not free"

These are very true words that are often said in honor of those who have paid the ultimate price to maintain our freedom - our soldiers, police, firefighters, etc.

But these words also apply to the rest of us in our everyday lives.

Our freedom includes and depends upon our right and practice of free speech. Both saying what we believe without fear of persecution and accepting the words and beliefs of others even though we disagree to our core with what they say.

Our freedom depends upon our participation in our elections in an informed and thoughtful manner.

Our freedom depends upon a free press that has the right and obligation to question our government.

Our freedom depends upon our leaders not just enforcing our laws but abiding to the same laws themselves.

Freedom depends upon defending the freedom of others.

Freedom is not Free and must be fought for in large and small ways every day of our lives.

Great photo -- have been there many times, not seen the flags before. Great sentiments to accompany the photo!

Edgy in a good way. Sharpness and depth of field create a very moving image of an otherwise static scene.
