Remember What We're Fighting For?
For me there is no image that better symbolizes freedom and democracy than the Towers. This is a view of lower Manhattan circa 1993, taken from atop the Empire State Building. At the time I thought the fog around the towers made a nice effect to the southern skyline. Well fifteen years later it obviously means so much more. The fog and haze have created almost an ethereal quality to their appearance. We all remember how it felt on the eleventh of September, but what I always try to remember is the deep pride and patriotism I saw so many people exhibiting in the weeks and months following the attack. This image was on exhibit at the 50th Annual Darien Art Show in Darien, Connecticut, June 2008. (Taken with a Nikon N6006).
