I found this 35-star American flag in an old building. Research revealed that this flag was only used from 1863-1865 -- Civil War Era.
As I have researched a bit more, I came to appreciate the fact that during the Civil War, the stars of the seceding states were not removed from the flag, and thus "the Union was preserved".
I did not notice the shadow until I began editing -- Isn't that Mr. Lincoln, left of the stars?
My country has endured struggles, division, and strife, yet the Union endures, thanks to the efforts of leaders of integrity and honesty, such as the immortal Abraham Lincoln.
May that spirit once again prevail in America!
