A F T E R B U R N E R
An F-105 taking off from the Takhli Royal Thai Air Force Base (355th Tactical Fighter wing) in 1969.
Every now and then I get old negatives from a specific box and revisit the memories. I share some if I think others will like them.
I took this with a Nikon Photomic Ftn and 135mm f/2.8 Nikkor lens. Yes, I was that close. My eyebrows were singed, kind of the natural look I have now, as I am 39 years older. The film was Tri-X ASA 400 processed in D-76. I always used a yellow filter on the camera lens and had higher contrast filters available later on the enlarger. This print was made years later on My Omega B-22 XL enlarger.

Reminds me of going out to the flight line in Kunson and doing time exposures at night of the F4's we maintained kicking in those afterburners on take off - yeah it was good way to keep warm on cold nights too ;-)
