This poor lil guy is a captive at Okinawa World in Okinawa Japan. He is one among many of the animals kept there that are not treated up to American standards for animals. He seemed drawn to me the moment I knelt by his cage. It broke my heart to leave him. I have learned much about culture and other countries views towards animals and their treatment. Learning these things, makes me proud to be an American. I truely believe any animal small or large has the right to a happy life......

photojournalism at it's best....hardly enough room for this beautiful creature to even poke it's head out...You've done all you could do by capturing this moment and sharing with the world ...one small act may help to make even at least one person to sympathize with 'life' in all forms. I hate to see animals caged :( I hate the circus, pet stores and chains. This pic will be in my heart forever...

Great picture. This turtle looks like it would cry if it could. I think your other perspective is silly. We treat our cows and chickens terribly (aside from hundreds of other cases of maltreatment towards animals let alone humans). What is an American standard?
How can you be proud of the way our food corporations treat animals for produce? It's no different than how Zoo's treat their animals in Japan. This is a simple case of just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. -
