The Russets In France

Meet my new friends Tim and Rhonda Russet from Hammond, MT. We met while vacationing at the Biarritz Resort in southern France.

It was a beautiful sunny day, with guests taking advantage of beach volleyball, beach tennis, horseshoes, Twister (now that’s a terrific game.)
Relaxing by the shores of the Mediterranean Tim and Rhonda recounted how their ancestors emigrated from Ireland in 1845 to escape some horrible famine engulfing that beautiful country. They finally settled in the rich farming region of Southeastern Montana where they began a cattle ranch, which today covers more than two thousand acres.

Tim and Rhonda were high school sweethearts got married three years ago and this was their first trip anywhere. I told them this was my first trip anywhere also, so we howled with laughter.

I insisted on paying for lunch they declined, but I wouldn’t take no for an answer. We dined on lobster tails with drawn butter(now really what the heck is drawn butter?) a crisp chef salad and a tasty red wine named Romanee Conti which I thought would look great with lobster.

When I got the bill and saw that bottle of wine had set me back $700.00 I nearly passed out, but this was vacation and damn if I was going to let a bottle of wine ruin my vacation!

After a wonderful lunch, we all agreed that our tastes lean more to meat and potatoes not French Cuisine, but when in Rome do as the Romans do!

That was a wonderful vacation of a lifetime and meeting Tim and Rhonda made it even more enjoyable.

If you are in Montana be sure to stop by their Circle R Ranch for some real home cooked meals and I hope you like meat and potatoes.

William! How can you consort with such canabals! The Russets serve POTATOES??? This is barbaric! My people are from Ireland, too, and potatoes are on my list of favorite foods, but I AM NOT A SPUD! In fact, I am quite hyperactive!!!! I don't consume humans. Why, of why do the Russets eat their own kind! I am outraged, and very disappointed in your choice of chums, William. I thought you were such a smart man. Get thee behind me, Satan!
By the way, the story is hysterical, and the pic, quite cheerful and clever! Am sending your link to pals here!!!
