I recognized your Route 66 pictures. We drove that whole thing in 1 968 enroute to California in an ancient VW bus. What a wonderful trip for two newly married. "California or Bust" written on the front. Next time you're thinking of a trip, do Highway 49 in California. It's the route the goldseekers took to find their fortune in the area around Coloma, CA. Bring a trout rod, too. It's magnificent, laced with foothills of gold and green, steeped in history, ghost towns, restored mining towns. Wonderful. I lived there for a year.
