Brenda and Family, 2005
A few years ago, I lived in San Pedro La Laguna in Guatemala, a small Mayan village on Lake Atitlan. While there I would take Polaroid pictures with my Spectra camera and give them to my subjects who were absolutely amazed by the immediacy of the Polaroid. I was frequently chased through the town by children who were anxious to see themselves revealed in this magic photo... This image is of 4 Polaroids that I had taken of Brenda and her family (and which I had given to them as a gift). I had spent a few days photographing Brenda's day to day life in San Pedro, and these Polaroid's were definitely hard to part with, but part of the fun of taking these was giving them away to people who appreciated them so intensely.
