What does faith mean to me? Her. After miscarrying our first child at three months I found my faith in God tested to the breaking point. I was so angry at the randomness of the act and the dreams we were robbed of that I could not sit in church. This was difficult as a lifelong Catholic taught God's Perfect Plan.
I never thought the chasm between God and I could be healed until I held Zoe for the first time. There it was - the hope and faith that had left my heart. I felt back in the Grace of God for the first time since losing our first child. The old wound will never heal and that child will never be forgotten, but its on its way to being better. There is no more evidence of God than children, no proof of beauty, light or truth than in their smile. She is my church, my Bible, my rosary.
