Om Mani Padme Hum is a popular Buddhist mantra. Throughout Nepal, prayer wheels are inscribed with this mantra and then spun. Spinning the wheel is similar to repeating the mantra over and over. These particular wheels were along a street in Kathmandu. The most ingenious ones I saw were attached to a water wheel, so the river kept them constantly spinning.
