My sons, who are finishing school in Louisiana, are coming here to Oklahoma tomorrow. This has me thinking and reminiscing towards a time when school and distance did not separate us. Those were the sweetest days. Days spent with I, marvelling at these wee lads, becoming boys and then, men; they, spent doing those things that caused a mother to marvel.

Gunnar, who is now nearly 15 absolutely adored hats. I could not get him to dress, often enough, but he'd don a hat in a moment if he found one.

Here, the portrait is consumed by two things. The lad, sweet, intense, about age two, and the hat, dark and serious and heavy. But the mood is still and sweet and the photo is one of my favorites. It is a photo that will surely embarrass him this year, and please him in ten.

This was shot with a Mamiya C330 Medium format camera, with Tri-X film, printed on agfa warm toned fiber paper, and scanned wth a Canon Pixma.

I dedicate this to my friend on this site, the amazingly beautiful Laurie Search. We've been discussing having kids, and whether to, or not! Find her here: http://www.jpgmag.com/people/Lor

A very nice portrait Laura. Great job. Your subject has a bit of an "older than I look" attitude. Well done!

Ok, I just have to comment on this one. My Dad named me Peggy Sue after hearing Buddy Holly's song on the radio on the way to the hospital the day I was born. However, he told me if I was a boy he was going to name me "Gunnar" .. daily I thank the Universe for making me a woman! I like the age of this photo. Great expression and hat too.

I'm guessing this image is only about 10 years old and yet it has a much older feeling. This is such nice pleasing work. Perfect B&W textures. Why oh why did you stop taking images of this quality?
