In Remembrance...

In remembrance...Today for Americans everywhere it is Memorial day. Not only a day off work or for backyard BBQ's it is a day...we should stop and take a moment and think of all the men and women, mother's and father's...sons and daughters who are not with us around our picnic tables this year. And it is for their sacrifice...that today...they occupy my heart and mind.
I dedicate these images to them...and to many of my fellow JPG'ers who serve and have served our country...I thank you.
These are images shot 2003, when I was honored to travel with and document, a group of US soldiers while they retraced the path of the 1st Infantry Division through France during WWI and WWII.
This image, while standing on the bluff above Normandy beach, in the pouring rain, these soldiers read the names of the men that came before them.

Having been in the Viet Nam war in 1967-8, at first I thought this was the wall in Washington DC for those Veterans. In reading your story, I realized this was from another War. I love your photo and am happy that you have this shot on jpg. Once they were soldiers and some never returned. They were men first and we owe our lives to them.
