My rock, My cathedral... my bridge

Another of my favorite bridge. I often think of this bridge as "my bridge". Not in any sort of possessive sense. I claim no ownership over it. I share it gladly. But it is mine in a sense that it is a place for me that holds a powerful personal connection. I have so many memories wrapped into the steel of this bridge. I have spent so many evenings under it and mornings on it. If it has been a long day and I need to go somewhere to decompress, this is where I go.

Sometimes I will stand in the park directly underneath the bridge and yell. If you find the right spot, it echoes back to you. I find this comforting somehow, it is almost like the bridge answering back. Crazy, I know.

It is a beautiful bridge, no doubt, but I don't think this is wholly my draw to it, though it helps. I think it comes from knowing a place so well, so well that you feel comfortable there. It is like home, but it isn't. Or rather it is a home away from home. Though I admit that in this home you have to sometimes watch out for nasty pieces of rubbish lying around. Still...

I have said a lot of this before when posting shots of this bridge. But that is ok. I don't mind repeating myself as long as you don't. And it is important to me, and I think important things are worth saying over and over again. Just like I keep going back here to take photos, even when one might think I couldn't possibly find a new way to appreciate this bridge.

But then, the way I approach this bridge is pretty much the same approach I use for the rest of my photography. I throw myself into, invest as much of my life as I can. Because, as with most things in life, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.
