    thanks Christophe! i think i got lucky with the focus this time around. i've noticed that since i don't like to use autofocus, the crispness of the detail is only as good as my aging eyes, the weakest link, if you will. i'm trying to practice getting the best manual focus i can. that's one of the reasons i like this shot so well.

    thanks Tricia! i don't have a macro lens and usually use my 75-300mm Zoom on full Zoom for this type of shot. As long as i don't have to get more than six feet from my subject, it works really well.
