This house just struck me as I passed by it today -- evoked a very strong memory for me. As a child growing up on the farm, this was the very "picture perfect cottage" style of house that seemed the perfect 'town' home to me, from the peaked roof and the garden gate surrounded by fragrant lilac bushes to the charming front door. There were many such houses in the small town where my grandparents lived; I would stay with them in summers and wistfully admire these simple, beautiful houses when we walked to the store or the pool, and imagine how idyllic life would be in such a lovely home. I'd still move into one if I could convince my husband that restoring woodwork, repairing rusty pipes and mortaring stone basements were his perfect life...........
